Studio Linen Shibori collection

17th February 2017
EK Jan 17 012
Inspired by the ancient Japanese resist dyeing technique of ‘Shibori’ four new colours for 2017 mimic the subtle hues of indigo dye.

Take inspiration from the infinite methods of stitching, twisting, binding and folding used to create distinctive Shibori patterns, and experiment with texture and colour in your knitting and crochet.

Studio Linen is made from recycled linen fibres, which are selected, undone and re-spun with premium natural linen to create a beautiful and unique recycled yarn.

Shibori colours 2017

Shibori colours 2017

We have collaborated with London based Shibori designer Rob Jones who has created bespoke backdrops and bags for us, and inspired our new colours.

Rob says “Shibori is a slow craft, often with many hours of stitching, binding, clamping and pole-dyeing followed by more hours at the indigo vat or mordanting, dyeing and over-dyeing fabric”. Rob’s creations demonstrate his love of fabric and the time spent to produce something original and lovingly handmade, with care and thought put into it.

Like knitting and crochet, Shibori represents slow crafting, tradition and modernity combined and Rob shares with us “a desire to bring something beautiful and different into the world.”

For more information on Rob’s designs or to take part in a Shibori workshop, please see, www.romordesigns.com.
