takes Erika Knight into a new area of craft. For the first time Erika
applies her unique flair for colour, texture and design within crafts
to beading and together with designer, Joy Fox, has produced a
must-have collection of 25 jewelery projects reflecting the trend for
modern craft-based adornment and accessories.
‘We all love to collect things on our travels, a shell from a beach,
daisies from a meadow, an odd button parted from a garment. These
talismans are often put aside, saved for no apparent reason other than
the way they glistened and caught our eye, how they felt in our hand or
as the physical embodiment of a moment, place or time.’
This simple introduction to beads and buttons, brings you individual
ideas and projects to make from those treasures. And includes show
stopping, yet unashamedly easy to make pieces.
Divided into three themes, Natural, Playful and Vintage, the designs
all share Erika's innate sense of style. Using driftwood, pebbles,
shells and hemp twine or leather thonging, the Naturals projects
reflect a modern mood within accessories for relaxed, easy-wear
simplicity. The Playful projects combine vibrant colour with unusual
textures, such as crochet and lace, to create bold statement pieces,
while the Vintage projects encapsulate fashions ongoing love for
antique glass, silver and mother-of-pearl to create treasured heirlooms.
